Luke Vibert – Machine Funk

Long-running acid master Luke Vibert returns on De:tuned with a new 11-track album devoted to the iconic silver box. “Machine Funk” characterizes Luke’s unique perspective on the acid house movement. The LP portrays an idiosyncratic blend of acidic squelch and raw energy with his signature fresh, playful vibe expressed through remarkably refined rhythmic compositions.

Asymetric80 – Blood Lies

This album was first presented at a sold-out prime-time show at the 2022 Ombra Festival, and we haven’t been able to stop dancing to it since. Gonzalo Semdon is the man behind one of the most promising electronic music acts on the Barcelona scene today. As on his two previous releases, the “Blood Lies Mini-album” continues exploring the evolution of the late-80s/early-90s underground “Spaniard sound.” Think a mixture of new EBM, beat, and trance melodies, often artfully combined with hypnotic spoken words.

Kelela – Raven

In her own words: “This creative process derives from the feelings of isolation and alienation I’ve always experienced as a Black Femme in dance music, despite the genre’s Black origins. RAVEN is my first breath taken in the dark, an affirmation of the Black Femme perspective in the midst of systemic erasure and the sound of our vulnerability transformed into a powerful means of expression.”

RAMZi – Hyphea

RAMZi’s “hyphea” is the new album by Montreal-based artist Phoebé Guillemot. Her latest sonic endeavor contains 10 new tracks, some of which are versions of the soundtrack she wrote for a documentary about mushrooms entitled “Fun Fungi,” directed by Frederic Lavoie. Recorded between November 2021 and May 2022, writing “hyphea” began as an attempt to escape the boredom and frustration imposed by the severe restrictions during the pandemic. For Phoebé it was a way to reconnect with RAMZi, whose spirit rekindled feelings of hope and adventurous inspiration after a long period of static detachment.

Fever Ray – Radical Romantics

Karin Dreijer, the mastermind behind Fever Ray, explores an urgent type of resistance from idiosyncratic angles on their third album, Radical Romantics. Inspired by everything from the revolutionary literature of Bell Hooks to their personal epiphanies about true desire and what it means to be patient, Dreijer’s new record magnifies their heightened state of sensitivity and smolders with distinctive Fever Ray flair.

Filmmaker – Code Breakers

Established as one of the most representative and prolific producers of recent years on the EBM, Synthwave, and Electro scenes, Filmmaker doesn’t disappoint when putting together densely energetic tunes. His spectrum within sound exploration has tastefully broadened over the years, and his latest release for the South American label Disidencia Records is a testament to that. Code Breakers is a 5-track EP that marks a strong second vinyl release for the label’s catalog, and is sure to yield exciting outcomes in the near future.

Tecwaa – Elysian On Moon Lake

Höga Nord Rekords kindly welcomes artist Teecwa back to the label, following his last full-length album “Beyond the Altai” with “Elysian on Moon Lake.” Teecwa is still exploring the intersections between house, electro, techno and dub styles, and once again, he manages to harness the sound of analog electronics to produce modern psychedelia. “Elysian On Moon Lake” is rawer, less airy, and not as effervescent as his last album. This is a tighter, and slightly darker experience than Teecwa’s previous work, possibly influenced by being in quarantine for an extended period of time during production: the artist has left some of his usual dreaminess aside in wake of the harsh reality of the pandemic world. Starting off on a lighter tone and developing into something more intense, the album offers many mind-altering experiences along the way. As we switch from the A- to the B-side, we experience the track flow as a rite of passage going from dusk to night; the sun’s rays through the blinders are replaced by neon lights dancing on the walls and ceiling.

Satoshi & Makoto – CZ-5000 Sounds & Sequences Vol. II

Japanese music-making twins Satoshi & Makoto skyrocketed to worldwide acclaim in 2017, when they signed an album’s worth of outstanding electronica to Young Marco’s imprint, Safe Trip. Composed entirely on a Casio CZ-5000, their music is deceptively profound, layered and varied. Often lazily lumped in with the “ambient” genre – we cannot deny the presence of kankyo ongaku echoes – the pair’s tunes bear the influence of synth-heavy film scores, trippy ‘90s IDM, bleep, dub techno, and classic Italian house.

EOD – VOR TEX

EOD delivers a lovely collection of tracks in his well-known signature sound. Late Rephlex and braindance influences are readily apparent, but EOD also adds his own personal touch which is inspired by the sounds of early Amiga and Deeper Detroit Electro. Listen and enjoy.

Italcimenti – Under Construction

Ludus Pinsky (Lapo Lombardi) and Alexander Robotnick (Maurizio Dami) form Italcimenti, a fuzz project seeking to recreate the heavy-cement niche of the early 80s. Thanks to their unabashedly bold and daring passion for the genre, a new generation of aficionados will have the opportunity to listen to some new sounds which will make your legs feel as heavy as blocks of cement.
